Due to limitations imposed by governing policy, and an effort to ensure .CO remains a premium name space, the .CO Registry is launching a measured approach to Registrar Accreditation. This includes 10 partners accredited as part of the initial launch in 2010 with an additional 20 accreditations approved at the registry’s discretion through 2012. The Accreditation Process includes the submission of an RFP as well as standard contractual and technical requirements. More information regarding the Accreditation Process may be found on our website at .CO Registrar Accreditation or by contacting Accreditation@COinternet.co.Becoming a .CO Accredited Registrar is not the only way to offer the .CO domain to your customers and clients. Why does the .CO Registry require Accredited Registrar candidates to submit an RFP and Marketing Plan?
The Request for Proposal (RFP) process has been designed to identify the best strategic partnerships to help strengthen the .CO marketing position both in regional markets as well as different business verticals. The RFP is intended to provide a transparent and reliable mechanism for accreditation, beyond the standard ICANN contractual and technical requirements.
If I apply to become a .CO Accredited Registrar, will I automatically become accredited?
In selecting Accredited Registrars, .CO Internet SAS reserves the right, in its full discretion, to approve and/or disapprove any candidate, based on the governing criteria defined by the company. Every Accredited Registrar candidate that applies may not be approved.
If my Accreditation Application is denied, can I re-apply?
Every Accredited Registrar candidate that applies may not be approved. If an application is denied, in certain circumstances, the candidate may be asked to re-apply, if and to the extent they can provide additional information that will assist in the evaluation of their credentials.
If I am currently a Reseller of .CO domains, can I apply to become a .CO Accredited Registrar?
Yes, if you are currently a Reseller working with a .CO Accredited Registrar, you are still eligible to apply for accreditation subject to the terms of the Reseller Agreement you have with your sponsoring accredited registrar.
Will .CO Internet charge for bulk transfers to newly Accredited Registrars?
No, the registry will not charge for bulk transfers to newly accredited registrars.
