.CO Premium Names

A Premium Domain Name is a high value web address that has been reserved by the .CO Registry for future sale or auction.

.CO Premium Names, which include keywords and generic names, are typically highly searchable or brandable marketing terms and call-to-action phrasing that create and drive web traffic.  There are many .CO Premium Names that have already turned into successful websites receiving a great deal of site visits.  These sites include O.CO, Overstock’s re-branded online retailing marketplace; T.CO, Twitter’s URL shortener showing millions of links per day and in the top 100 of ranked sites from Alexa.com; X.CO, Go Daddy’s publicly available vanity URL shortening service; 500.CO, 500Startups seed fund and startup accelerator program; and many more!

There are a number of names that have not been made available to the public for a variety of reasons.  .CO Internet has established business policies and procedures around these names in accordance with international best practices.  There are three types of name lists that have been withheld from general availability within the .CO namespace:

  1. Premium Domain List:  The Premium Domain List generally consists of names reserved by the .CO registry that will be offered to the public via auction or negotiated fixed price including single and double character names, keywords and generic terms. 
  2. Restricted Domain List:  The Restricted Domain List generally consists of names stipulated by the Colombian Government and will not be available for registration.
  3. Reserved Domain List:  The Reserved Domain List generally consists of names reserved by the .CO registry for promotional or other strategic purposes and will not be available for registration.

The registry has not published a publicly available list of all the Premium and Reserved domain names. However, to check the availability of a particular desired .CO Domain name, please go to www.whois.co.  If the domain is part of the Premium Names list, it will be noted there; then, you may email Premium@COinternet.co regarding your desired premium name.
