This week, we are thrilled to host the nearly 1000 ICANN delegates from around the world who have come to beautiful Cartagena, Colombia for the 39th ICANN public meeting.

As part of our global launch plan, .CO Internet has worked very hard to ensure that the rights of trademark owners would be respected and protected within the .CO domain.

These days, sophisticated web users understand and respect the fact that they can't register domain names that belong to individuals or businesses who own trademarks (like McDonald's or Starbucks), in hopes of later selling the domain names back to them for large sums of money. Beyond being morally questionable, this behavior is illegal.

As a founding member of ICANN’s ccNSO, I feel like a proud parent every time I think about how the organization has “grown up” right before my eyes. The Country Code names Supporting Organization, or ccNSO, was created by ccTLD managers in 2003.
