As we all know, Apple Co-founder and former CEO Steve Jobs passed away last week. The news came to me while I was on a call with my new .CO-workers, Crystal Peterson and Santiago Rodriguez, and we all sat together for a little while – taking it all in. Then we did what a lot of people did, and took to Twitter and Facebook sharing stories and quotes about a man we felt like we knew, even though we had never met him.
As I took to the interwebs, exchanging keystrokes on my MacBook with friends and followers, and texting on my iPhone 4, I re-watched one of my favorite videos of Steve, announcing the “Think Different” brand campaign that he is so famous for. Never before have I been so proud to be where I am in my life.
I recently joined the .CO team – a team with passion about the future of the internet, the future of startups, and the opportunity we all have to bring our dreams to life – a company that truly understands what it means to “Think Different”.
When I watch this speech today, I feel like I’m sitting in one of our team meetings. I am reminded that every day there are people changing the world, that they all are around me, and it all starts with an idea.
For us, it started with the idea that .CO could become the world’s premier web address for launching great ideas. The idea that our little startup could take on 25 years of internet domination. The idea that people with passion really can change the world.
Now maybe you think that I’m crazy. But that’s ok. Because someone named Steve once told me that “the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.” Thank you Steve, for inspiring me every day. You may be gone from this earth, but your crazy ideas will always be a part of everything I do.
Here’s to the crazy ones.
