Gonzalo Romero

Chief Security Officer

Gonzalo has more than 21 years of experience in technology infrastructure and information security systems deployment, consulting and auditing. Prior to his current role as Chief Security Officer for .CO Internet, Gonzalo held several CTO positions in the public and private sectors, and served as an ITC consultant and auditor for multiple private and public companies across a variety of industries. With ten years of prior service at the Computer Center of the University of Los Andes, in Bogotá, Colombia, Gonzalo was a leading force in establishing and deploying BITNET and INTERNET connectivity for the country of Colombia. During his term at the University, he participated in annual Internet Society (ISOC) workshops and INET events around the world, developing skills and transferring technology and information security knowledge to the national academic community. With postgraduate studies in Telecommunications and Computer Science, Gonzalo has Microsoft, IBM and CISCO certifications, and acts as a CACert.org digital notary in Colombia.
