Launch Schedule

The new era of .CO has arrived! The Launch Plan involved a multi-phase rollout schedule to ensure for the stable and orderly distribution of .CO domain names.

The Launch Plan incorporated industry best practices as well as other innovative rights protection mechanisms designed to protect the users of the .CO Top Level Domain. The Launch Plan is consistent with the .CO Administration Policy of July 30, 2008.

The .CO Launch Plan had three core stages:

Global Sunrise April 26 - June 10:
This phase was for trademark holders with exact match domain names registered prior to July 30, 2008. It allowed companies to apply for their desired domain or domains and secure their trademarks. Matching domain applications were settled in an auction.

Landrush June 21 - July 16:
Landrush took place from the end of June through mid-July, and was open to anyone interested in registering .CO domain names of high commercial value. Single applications were awarded on July 21 and matching applications were settled via an auction.

General Availability July 20:
Once the Global Sunrise and Landrush processes are complete, .CO domains became available to anyone in the world through participating registrars or their resellers. Except where otherwise reserved by the .CO Registry or earmarked for premium auctions, .CO domains are available to the public based on the chronological order of registrations on a first come, first served basis.
